Tonight was absolutely cray-cray. We easily did over 500 covers with the biggest rush around 10pm. Just when we all expected the evening to wind down, every station got slammed with orders. There must have been some large parties too because we were getting tickets with large quantities of each dish. Five of these, four of those, make these ones vegan. Ten orders of beef cheeks back to back. I had plates spread out all over our station just to be ready for when my station partner finished sautéing this or that. We were all exhausted by the end of the night, and it was especially hard on me and my fellow closers because we were still stuck for another hour on a night that felt like it would never end. But I felt tired in a good way, like we were working in overdrive to rise to the challenge.
I stopped by 7-Eleven after work to reward myself with a slurpee. It was arguably the best $1.59 I’ve ever spent.
